The Worcester Heritage route is a journey of discovery into the rich architectural history of buildings such as The Drostdy, the Dutch Reformed Mother Church and Beck House. Eighteen sites make up the route which passes two coffee shops for refueling and a quiet recharge in the Garden of remembrance in Church Square.

Description

Discover the rich history of Worcester’s old town by taking an e-bike ride through town.

Included in your fee:

  • E-bike (Or for the fitter people, standard pedal bikes also available)
  • A map of the heritage tour with pictures & information on the places of interest.
  • Lock, pump & spares
  • Helmet

Start at the Old Drostdy building, head to The Barn art gallery and glass blowing studio where you can also have a hearty breakfast and good coffee.

From here you can make your way up Church street all the way to the Moederkerk and Church Square where you can stroll through the memorial garden. You can also do a guided tour of the church where you can even explore the clock tower. If it’s your birthday on the day of your tour, you’ll be given the chance to ring the church bell.

Next stop can be the beautiful Beckhuis. Enjoy a light lunch in their garden and browse through their gift shop.

Church street also offers a number of coffee shops, boutiques, restaurants and guesthouses. Many of them located inside the historic gabled buildings all over Worcester. Did you know that Worcester have got the most gabled buildings in South Africa and a unique Worcester gable is visible on several of its old buildings.
